Oliver’s EK Hatch
Probably one of the cherriest EK hatches on the island of Oahu and maybe even the whole state of Hawaii, This is Oliver’s EK9 Hatch reppin’ Art-N-Motion. A few days before I left Hawaii, I got a call from a friend asking if I’m available to do one last shoot before I left the island. As always, there is always time to shoot no matter what time of the day. Be it morning, evening, afternoon, past midnight, they always turn out fun.
So we met up at an undisclosed location and proceeded to the shoot quickly as I didn’t even pack for my flight the next morning. As my friend and I were kicking it in the parking lot talking story, we hear a pretty distinct sound and my friend says, “Here he comes… You won’t be disappointed.” I wasn’t. From what I remember, the car went through various transformations.
Oliver first got the car early in his high school career bone stock form when he first had his drivers permit. A white automatic Honda Civic Hatch that a grandma would probably drive. As time passed, he accumulated more and more parts eventually ending up with everything he has today. As with any enthusiast, every pay check went towards his car. First suspension, then parts. Going from fake to real, he learned the hard way but eventually landed him in the person he is today: legit.
As his car transformed, he eventually swapped it to a manual transmission as well as repainted it to Roma Red (Factory color). His exterior consists of many small details; from an OEM front grill and lip from the Si to many CTR parts such as its JDM counterparts front lights as well as city lights, mirrors, side moldings, and rear lip. In addition, he also has that very nice carbon fiber spoon duck bill wing to keep the lines of his hatch going. Its all about the small details guys!
His car sits on some super legit Enkei RPF1s and is wrapped in some Falken tires… Some nice stuff if you may say! The rims just match so nicely.
As we talked, we tossed around jokes and questions, one being if we could expect his car in HellaFlush4 on February 27, but he said “Naw.” Although he likes the trend, he is currently happy with the way it stands right now. Although not flush, who cares. It functions and that is all that matters.
His car is dropped on Teins with a Tanabe front strut tower, a JIC rear tie bar, and a rare Password:JDM C-Pillar Bar. Nice set up if you ask me. Its nice and low, but not dropped too much where he has problems all over.
Since entering his car in SS09 last year, it has gone through a few changes, and will continue to do so as long as he has it. It is a constantly evolving work of art. Even his interior consists of a handful of additions from its Si brother, its CTR cousin, and its Integra GSR sister. Although I don’t have any interior shots, it is very clean and immaculate.
Another cool thing: This isn’t a garage queen either. Daily driven, and often seen at HCC. That night made me go back to wanted an EK Hatch project car although my plate is already full with other things. So nice, and so clean! Its nice to see individuals doing their own thing and setting them apart from others; not caring about others opinions as well.
Something even cooler; when these individuals come together to form a crew. Just like some of the featured rides of the Simply Discrete crew featured earlier, Art-N-Motion has the same intentions but with a different group of friends. Once Oliver and his friends found that common interest, Art-N-Motion took off.
Soon enough, the night ended and we eventually rolled out to another spot. No biggie though, we just kicked it elsewhere. And this right here is Olivers Red EK9.
Thanks Oliver for letting the us check out his car and big ups to the Art-N-Motion crew!
